Folegandros hotels don’t cost a fortune – these are not Mykonos and Santorini prices, but you are also not getting the variety and ‘wow’ factor in the hotels available on Folegandros.
This is still, blissfully, an island where cruise ships don’t dock and so it is not thronged with day trippers.
This means that there is not a large tourist infrastructure of the kind you find on the superstar Greek islands.
Most hotels will be 2 or 3-star hotels. The newer hotels, often 4-star, have been built a little out of the main towns, so you need to weigh up if you’d like to be in Chora or by the beach or are okay with being a few kilometers from them.
There are some 4 and 5-star luxury hotels and boutique resorts with private pools and contemporary and sophisticated interiors and they are mostly in Karavostasi, where the Port is located.
These sell quickly so try and book as many months ahead as possible. Folegandros is the kind of island where people return year after year and book the same accommodation.

This lovely 4-star hotel is perched at the edge of the main Folegandros town, Chora, just a short walk (5-6 minutes) to the center, but with several restaurants only 30 m away.
This means it has superb views of the Aegean Sea as the rocky hillside plunges down to the water. The furnished balconies are awesome places to lie around and do absolutely nothing for hours!
The hotel follows the relaxing traditional Cycladic architecture plan and style of white buildings with balconies around a pool, common across the island chain.

2. Polikandia Hotel
You can’t get much higher than a rating of 9.9 from 400 reviews!

The rooms are contemporary and better furnished than most of the 5 stars and a few of the four-star hotels in Folegandros. There are windows that open on all four sides of some apartments which are split level and some have a sun terrace.
The apartments are a short walk down the hill into the Chora. The downside? Can’t see one – make sure to ask for a renovated apartment.
5. Themonies Luxury Suites
